Now that quality control standards are slowly raising in Chinese manufacturers, suppliers have turned to garment industries in Bangladesh, one of the largest providers for competively priced clothing for Western retailers at an extremely low-cost labour.
The BBC News reported in today's recent update, "At least 87 people have been killed and many others trapped after an eight-storey building housing garment factories, collapsed outside the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka." It all comes down to the consumer and the practice of overconsumption. When clothing is purchased at a low cost, the more lives of factory workers are at high risk and endangered everyday due to poor wages and lack of basic safeguards. So it's true. This human rights issue strictly lies in the quality of clothing you choose to purchase. Is it really worth saving a few dollars when we can be saving numerous lives?
The deal is, silk blazers are the jam. They are the perfect item to throw over a tee or dress when you don't want to be over exposed.
